Yea! Spending bill blocks light bulb standards

The Republican Congress has outsmarted the Energy Department, we can keep our incandescent bulbs!
The shutdown-averting budget bill will block federal light bulb efficiency standards, giving a win to House Republicans fighting the so-called ban on incandescent light bulbs.
GOP and Democratic sources tell POLITICO the final omnibus bill includes a rider defunding the Energy Department’s standards for traditional incandescent light bulbs to be 30 percent more energy efficient.
More details HERE. Elections have consequences!

OK, so now what? It’s like trying to push wet string up hill. Forget defunding the Energy Department’s standards for traditional incandescent light bulbs but instead defund the Energy Department…. Game Over.
Wasn’t the Energy Department created by Jimmy Carter to make the USA self sufficient?? Today we’re not better off than then.
This is a Christmas present!
The fact of the matter is
A) The compact fluorescent bulb (also known as “CFL”) life test did not factor in turning the bulbs on and off. So the ~7 year life of the bulbs is based on leaving the light always on….(How energy efficient is that.)
B) And the general experience is that the bulbs last only a twice as long as a regular incandescent bulb (but at 10 times the cost.)
C) The CFL’s are an environmental nightmare due to their use of Mercury .
Strage how reality bites those driven by an agenda. The test were set up to prove a point, where as in daily life reality rules.
Darn, Russ and George won’t be making a bundle on 100W lightbulb futures!
Steve,
No futures, but I do have 2 dozen 100 watt bulbs in the pantry. I was planning ahead.
Elaborate on making and losing a bundle Steve. I’m sure it would be captivating!
I was of course referring to you stash of 100′s Russ.
