I have been thinking buying an iPad with Verizon 4G connectivity, but it has not arrive in Nevada County yet. However roll out in the County may not be too far away. A regular reader of this blog reports a 4G connection at the Nevada County Airport. The Reader reports doing a speed test using an Android 4G phone.
Did a speed test and got a blistering download speed, as much as 15000kbps (yes, 15Mbps) though 10Mbps was more common. Might have been because I was the only one besides Verizon who was using it

Here is the current Verizon coverage map, note 4G is dark the dark red, the pin is Grass Valley.
The most likely expansion path is up I-80 and then some spill over coverage in Nevada County.
Update (03-28-12, 12:20) From the comment it looks like I was wrong, with Western Nevada County joining the 4G/LTE coverage area. Stay Tuned for more reports.

My Android phone prompted me for an update yesterday. After that, I noticed my phone was operating in 4G, but occasionally dropped back to 3G. Right now, in downtown NC, I have 4G.
Brad,
Thanks for the report!
Other are reporting 4G or LTE access:
Just noticed in a meeting that my new iPad 3 just started receiving Version LTE service this morning, never did for the last week that I have had it. Ran a few Speedtest.net app tests that gave a max at 18.6mbs down and 5.0mps up; averaging a little lower at 15/3. Don’t know if they are just testing the system today or if it is turned on. I am assuming we are pulling from the tree tower above the Library.
Verizon 4g went on the new “talking tree” cell tower on You Bet rd three days ago when they finished running a fiber out here. I just got 1.8mb download with my mobile hotspot. Ron milner
Correction, i get 7mb upload, 2mb download on the new tower.
