When will “2016: Obama’s America”Come to Nevada County – Maybe Never.

Already the No. 2 grossing documentary of the year, “2016: Obama’s America” expands nationwide this weekend.
An anti-Obama documentary based on conservative author Dinesh D’Souza’s book The Roots of Obama’s Rage will expand nationwide this weekend after doing notable business in select markets across the country — including in liberally minded New York City.
It appears that local theater owner are not interested in bring this documentary to Nevada County. You will have to go to Roseville to see it, or wait for the DVD to be released. Since this documentary is clearly a money maker, why the reluctance to show it in Nevada County?

I had a chance to screen the film last week. No fan of the President’s, I entered the theater expecting to agree with Mr. D’ Sousa’s underlying thesis. What I didn’t expect was to be impressed with the quality of this film; nor to be so fascinated as the film takes the audience around the world, tracing both the President’s and his father’s footsteps to interview people who knew both; and can help to explain the enigma that is this, our 44th President
The liberal theater owner would be the first to cry ‘censorship?’ should the shoe be on the other foot (or the other foot be in his mouth). However, a conservative cannot accuse this progressive of censorship, no matter his agenda. They are his theaters, and he gets to decide what will be seen in them. For those taking notes, that’s what private property and capitalism is all about.
True, but we no longer have any competition. One family now owns all the theaters in town. True capitalism include an element of competition. We have limited competition in this case, the nearest theater is in Roseville.
Over this past weekend, “Obama’s America” was number three at the box office, behind big-budget summer blockbusters “The Dark Knight” and “Total Recall.”
And, it will not be in over a 1,000 theaters until next week.

It was enjoyable to see so many Tea Party friends while attending “2016 – Obama’s America” last Friday. It was a packed house and we understand the movie is running beyond the one day showing previously announced. Call the Olympus Pointe Threatre (916)772-1245) to check on showings. Note: We are hearing reports that this documentary is breaking records and will be picked up by over a thousand theaters.
We tried to find out if this movie could be shown here locally but were informed by the Sierra Theaters Business Office that they do do not have any open slots at the moment. It is possible that if enough people call they might free a time to show it in Grass Valley. We encourage you to call Sierra Theaters Business Office at 530-477-1100 requesting that they show it.
The anti-Obama movie 2016 Obama’s America went into wider release around America today and is opening right now in first place at the domestic box office. That’s quite a feat since the Rocky Mountain Pictures political documentary is still playing in only 1,090 North American theaters
