According to the ice breakup log, the latest the ice has ever gone out was May 20th, 1964 at 11:41 AM Alaska Standard Time. As of this writing there is about 28 hours to go to break that record.

Geophysicist Martin Jeffries at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks said in 2009,

The Nenana Ice Classic is a pretty good proxy for climate change in the 20th century.

If that’s true, it looks like we are headed to colder times. Here is the current live view which updates every 30 seconds.

Going in Search of John Galt

Dear Readers,

Thanks for visiting and sharing your thoughts, understanding and contributions over the past year.  The United States I grew up in and defended will be unable to sustain itself with more people on taking from those who are producing. We are a path to economic destruction and I will never live long enough to see this great nation rise again. It is time for others to step up to the challenge. I am done. It is time to go in search of John Galt.

I will continue to blog at The Next Grand Minimum on weather and climate issues. For political commentary, I recommend that you visit George Rebane’s Ruminations.  For climate change issues I recommend Anthony Watts’ Watts Up With That

I was visiting family in the Northeast U.S. when Sandy came ashore, so I was without power for most of last week. Since my return home, I’ve been catching up with all of the nonsense surrounding Hurricane/Extratropical Storm/Hybrid Storm Sandy. There have been hundreds of articles and blog posts that include references to climate change, global warming, and the warming oceans and their assumed impacts on Sandy. Yet no one has bothered to plot the long-term sea surface temperature anomalies for Sandy’s track. So we’ve had lots of baseless claims. Will the authors of those posts and articles feel foolish when they discover sea surface temperatures for Sandy’s path haven’t warmed in 70+ years? For those reading this post, who have access to the authors of those articles or the blog posts, feel free to leave them a link or two to this post.

#Greenfail: Obama Cars Not Safe Around Salt Water

Russ Steele

A total of 16 Fisker Karma extended-range electric cars, each costing more than a $100k each, have gone up in flames after reportedly being partially submerged by flash floods caused by Hurricane Sandy. The brand new cars were parked in Port Newark, New Jersey, and are believed to have caught fire last night.

Images of the wrecked Karmas are at Jalopnik, The damage to each of the cars to be quite extensive.

Fisker has since released the following statement:

“It was reported today that several Fisker Karmas were damaged by fire at the Port of Newark after being submerged in sea water during Superstorm Sandy.  We can report that there were no injuries and none of the cars were being charged at the time.

“We have confidence in the Fisker Karma and safety is our primary concern.  While we intend to find the cause as quickly as possible, storm damage has restricted access to the port.

Hello,The attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that resulted in the murder of four Americans has become a huge issue. But with Election Day just a couple of days away, the mainstream media continue to give little or no attention to it; instead, they are focusing on the horse race and the latest political polls. At PJ Media, we’re devoted to covering this important story. Our Middle East editor, Barry Rubin, provided a short guide to the Benghazi issue that explains what it is really all about. In the guide, Rubin analyzes the enduring themes raised by the tragic event. Click here to read his article.PJ Columnist Michael Ledeen’s most recent post on Benghazi addresses the Obama administration’s failure to take some action to save the men on the ground: “The big reason is fear of failure, a big public failure. It was easier to live with tragedy and even a perception of indecisiveness-verging-on-cowardice than with an AC130 gunship going down in flames.” You can read the full article here.

Ledeen also appeared on PJTV to discuss what the media are not talking about when they do talk about Benghazi. Click here to watch the video now.

So who’s to blame in all this — the failure to act and the resulting cover-up? Fingers will point in every direction, but as we all know the fish rots at the proverbial top or, more politely, the buck stops with the president. Obama admitted as much. That’s why I wrote an article titled, “If Reelected, Obama Should Be Impeached Over Benghazi.” Click here to read it, and leave a comment to let me know what you think.

PJTV’s Trifecta with Scott Ott, Stephen Green and Bill Whittle also addressed the possibility of impeachment over Benghazigate. As Scott Ott put it, “Mr. President, you have utterly failed in what you knew, or didn’t know — in what you did, and neglected to do. Only the verdict of the voters on November 6th should spare you from impeachment.” Click here to watch this episode of Trifecta now.

Details about Benghazigate are continuing to trickle out, but they remain cloudy at best. That’s why we have established an email address — Benghazi@pjmedia.com — to receive hitherto unpublished information about the events in Libya on September 11. Read this post for more details.

And stay tuned to PJMedia.com and PJTV.com for more coverage of Benghazigate.

Sincerely,

Roger L. Simon

WELCOME TO THE TEA PARTY NEWS NETWORK

Russ Steele

Remember when out local lefties and his purpleness declared the Tea Party over,  as it’s influence would soon fade with in a few weeks after the 2010 election.  Well it did not happen and the strength of the Tea Party in it’s various forms continues to grow. The Tea Party continues to be a loose collection of grass roots organizations with little top down management. Local organizations decide what is the best approach for their communities, relying on the Internet to communicate local actions to other Tea Party groups.

Now these local groups will have the Tea Party News Network to feed stories to their web pages, luncheon update reports and monthly newsletters. Of course you can tune in on the web.

The Politico takes note with this new news network: Tea Party conservatives are getting their very own news site.

The Tea Party News Network, self-described as “the only trusted news source and the antidote to mainstream media bias,” is already live but will announce its launch tomorrow morning, with plans to start live video on election day. TPNN claims to have a “war room of 40-plus volunteers” who will operate out of the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, and has established partnerships with the Talk Radio Network and radio host Rusty Humphries, who will be co-anchoring the election night coverage.

This is another place to go for some unfiltered lame stream news. Perhaps not totally unbiased news, as the Tea Party has a mission, but the news will not be run through the liberal/progressive news filter before you get to consume it.  I recommend you give it try and see if it deserved a place on your bookmark or favorites bar.

The next Tea Party Rally will be at the ballot boxes across

this great nation. See you there!

Russ Steele:

I will be watching, please invites some friends in for a viewing. We are going up it up on the big screen.

WUWT-TV to debut on November 14th to counter Al Gore’s “Dirty Weather Telethon” on November 14th and 15th starting at 8PM EST (5PM PST)

Al Gore is forming another 24 hour media event on November 14th, focusing on “dirty weather”, which you can read about here. It is yet another example of what has been called “Tabloid Climatology”.

Gore’s program is another transparent attempt to link climate and weather, and to make people fearful of common weather events that we’ve seen all throughout history. WUWT hosted a 24 hour event last year, thanks to the talents of our contributing cartoonist, Josh.  You can review that here.

Last year during his “24 Hours of Climate Reality”, Mr. Gore created a video called “Climate 101” in which he purported to show a laboratory experiment showing the warming effects of CO2. Unfortunately it was discovered that…
