Lunch with the Republican Women of Nevada County (Updated)

Russ Steele

Yesterday was lunch with the Republican Women at the Alta Sierra County Club. I look forward to these luncheon meetings, as there is always something interesting to learn from these dynamic women and their guest speakers.

The featured speaker was Eric Eisenhammer, who is the Founder of Coalitions of Energy User.  I worked with Eric on the Prop 23 Campaign and we communicated online multiple times, but this was only the second time I had a chance to shake his hand and chat for a few moments.  The first time was at CABPRO sponsored meeting before the 2010 election.

Eric asked me to remind folks about the CEU Rally for Economic Freedom, that will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from Noon to 2PM on the West Steps of the State Capital in Sacramento.

Nevada County is once again attracting national attention. Elaine Meckler announced that the Tea Party Patriots Adopt a School to teach the Constitution would be included in a New York Times article and featured on Good Morning America. Go Tea Party Patriots.

The membership of this dynamic organization continues to grow, with 13 new members this quarter. There are now almost as many associate members as regular members. Consider joining this dynamic organization as a member, or as an associate, you will not be disappointed.

Update (09-23-11) I forgot to list this event:

Americanism Spring Essay Contest

The Nevada County RWF in conjunction with Northern Division RWF is sponsoring two essay contests in 2011.  One in the spring for 11th Grade Students and one in the late Fall for 8th Grade Students.  Essays in both contests will be five hundred words or less.

The Americanism Spring Essay contest will be open to all 11th Graders in the Northern Division and will begin immediately.  All submissions must be in to the Americanism Chairman Kimberly Pruett by May 15th. The essay topic is “What do you believe made Ronald Reagan the effective leader that he was, and why is he considered one of the best Presidents in our lifetime?”

The Americanism Chair for each club in Northern Division will be soliciting entries from local 11th grade classes in the community; this includes students enrolled in public and private schools as well as homeschoolers and charter schools.  Each club will choose one essay from the contest to send on to Northern Division to be judged.  The essay winner from Nevada County RWF will be given a monetary prize to be determined by the board and the winners of the Northern Division Americanism Essay contests will each receive a monetary award and a book for their school libraries from Northern Division.  Winners will be presented at the Northern Division Fall Conference.

If you know of an 11th Grader who would be interested in participating, please contact me for more information at or call 477-7993.
