Over e-mail transom – German Fear of Warming Plummets

Russ Steele

I had seen this item on another blog, but this version was sent by a regular reader of this blog. P. Gosselin writes from Germany: German Fear Of Warming Plummets…Yet-To-Be-Published Skeptic Book Climbs To Amazon.de No. 4!

According to the article only 31% of Germans are afraid of global warming, when 2006 it was double that number. Here is the money paragraphs from the article:

No more trust in the IPCC

Undeniably there’s a feeling that the stars are now aligned, the mood has swung, and key players are changing their minds. As FOCUS reports, even the most die-hard of warmists are converting, or at least softening their tones. Prof. Fritz Vahrenholt, a renewable energy expert, was once one of the fathers of the modern green movement in Germany and believed everything the IPCC preached – until 2 years ago. FOCUS writes:

“Fritz Vahrenholt, one of the fathers of the green movement, no longer trusts the forecasts of the IPCC.”

and FOCUS tells us why, quoting Vahrenholt:

“Doubt came two years ago when he was an expert reviewer of an IPCC report on renewable energy. ‘I discovered numerous errors and asked myself if the other IPCC reports on climate were similarly sloppy.”

In his book he explains how he dug into the IPCC climate report and was horrified by what he had found. Then add the 10 years of stagnant temperatures, failed predictions, Climategate e-mails, and discussions he had with dozens of other skeptical elite scientists. That was more than enough. FOCUS quotes:

“I couldn’t take it any more. I had to write this book.”

I hope that some this doubt makes it’s way to California, and our adamant warmers at CARB start questioning the facts in the IPCC report. There reports are being used by CARB as justification for CO2 emission reduction policies in California.

H/T to a regular reader of this blog.

It’s nice to see reality becoming politically acceptable again.

Auf Anglish, “The Cold Sun” as a title is pretty derivative of “The Chilling Stars”, the Svensmark/Calder mass market paperback that I keep meaning to read. In this case I suspect the imitation really is a sincere mark of flattery.

I hope the world starts giving Svensmark his due someday soon; no one deserves greater credit.

    • D. King says:

Here is a statement from Svenmark.

This frustrates cooler heads in the Church of Science. Says Henrik Svensmark, director of Denmark’s sun-climate research: “It will take a long battle to convince some climate scientists that the sun is important. It may well be that the sun is going to demonstrate this on its own, without the need for their help.

      And this by Benny Peiser.

“If we don’t see convincing evidence of global warming by 2015,” says Benny Peiser, director of the Global Warming Policy Foundation, “it will start to become clear that the models are bunk.” Heavy-breathing humans and flatulent cows will be off the hook, and a lot of scam artists will be pushed away from the public trough and on the street looking for work.

“…a lot of scam artists will be pushed away from the public trough and on the street looking for work.”

Don’t think the IPCC and CARB will be able to keep up. 🙂

  3. Sam King says:

So, Russ, you’re into denying climate science, and AGW in particular, because you don’t like that governments will have to be part of the solution.

In other words, you understand the magnitude of the problem and cannot see free market solutions to it without global government cooperation.

I don’t think you’re a fan of massive government involvement in anything, correct? So you have a dliemma that you, like other climate science deniers and modern faux-conservatives, find it easier to claim AGW is a massive leftist “hoax”, a conspiracy so large, so broad, that thousands of scientists would have had to be part of it for decades (which, of course, you cannot admit is he unstated implication of your claims.)

You understand, then, why we who accept science no matter where it leads, look with amazement at you all who claim to be “conservatives” acting so anti-conservative, so anti-science, to the inevitable end of shooting yourselves in the feet, deliberately removing yourselves from participating in solutions to a real problem – free market solutions – and ensuring that you will have MORE government involvement instead of LESS.

But then William F. Buckley saw the same the same Sick “conservatism” in the ’50s and succeeded in wrestling it from the John Birch Society. WFB is rolling in his grave watching you faux-conservatives self destruct.

It’s time for you to give up your hopelessly self-defeating, ideological, denialist battle against the reality of climate science, don’t you think, Russ?

  4. D. King says:

    Sam said:

“…a conspiracy so large, so broad, that thousands of scientists would have had to be part of it for decades (which, of course, you cannot admit is he unstated implication of your claims.)”

No Sam, all you have to do is manipulate the few data sets that thousands of scientists use.

BTW, this is one of hundreds.

Just read the Climategate emails Sam.

  5. Russ says:

    David,

I do not think that Sam has read the Climategate e-mails. He cannot stand the truth, so it is much easier to ignore that it was a small group of scientist who changed the source data to match the computer models, thus creating science fraud. The satellite data has not been tinkered with and is perhaps the best record of slowing climate change.

  6. D. King says:

    Russ,

I don’t trust the sea ice satellite data now.

This same signal loss can be duplicated be tweaking the gain control to the point that there is too little signal to excite the detector material.

  7. Sam King says:

I’m addressing Russ’s evasiions and appeal to “Climategate” elsewhere. It’s too bad he cannot argue his own case.

In the meantime, here is a good education, as The Wall St. Journal expounded on the denialist claims to which the unqualified Burt Rutan leant his name:

“No Need to Panic About Global Warming”

    JANUARY 27, 2012
    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204301404577171531838421366.html?mod=article-outset-box

Yesterday, real climate scientists responded putting WSJ and denialists like Russ to shame:

“Check With Climate Scientists for Views on Climate”

    JANUARY 31, 2012
    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204740904577193270727472662.html?mod=WSJ_Opinion_MIDDLEThirdBucket

Will it matter? No. One only has to read the incredibly stupid denialist responses and attacks by those whom have been taken in by denialists like Russ. This is the state of affairs today, reminding of us of the days of McCarthyism.

Remember, Russ, you get what you ask for.

  8. Sam King says:

    And this, highly instructive:

    http://crocodoc.com/ziAHqp7

  9. Bob W says:

And this is what doubling down on stupidity looks like.

    • D. King says:

Yeah Bob, I know what you mean.

I’m starting to feel sorry for these guys.

      How embarrassing!

  10. Sam King says:

One can never underestimate the intelligence of climate change deniers.

  11. Climate hoaxers sure have got their fans.

  12. Sam King says:

Tell us about your massive conspiracy theory, Todd. Russ couldn’t make his work.

  13. Todd Juvinall says:

    Sam Kin,
I can’t educate the those that won’t learn. Russ debunked you and so have the others. I suggested you go read the book by Vaclav Klaus the Czech President but you choose to just not pay attention it appears. He among many others have exposed the hoax. But, there are still many sheep who will follow the hoaxers because it fits their world view.

Oh, and Sam, I never said anything about a “massive” conspiracy theory. Why would you try and put words in my mouth?

    • Sam King says:

Don’t be so gullible, Todd. Klaus was never a climate scientist,.

Klaus said global warming was a “communist plot.” That it is a political claim, not a statement from science.

Nevertheless, Klaus made a climate prediction 30 years in the future. For him, no silence needed. And you fall for this, Todd.

I never put words in your mouth. You said “climate hoaxers.” By the necessary implication, you are claiming that the world’s thousands of science in the multiple-disciplinary field of climate science would have had to conspire for over 30 years to succeed in your climate “hoax.”

It’s not nice to try to fool readers here by evading your claims, Todd.

      Really.

      • No Sam, you are truly a hoaxer since you blow off the opposition as fools. Russ and many others have shown the supposed 99% in agreement claims by your ilk are phony and there are many thousands of scientitst who have shon your religious belief in AGW to be contrives. When the emails came out it roved what we have thought all along. It is simply apolitical contrivance to gain power and control. Klaus exposed that earlty on and you have fallen for his opponents lies. Too bad you don’t have an open mind. I personally studied this in the mid 90’2 and came to the conclusion it was a political ploy and I wrote about it then. It has proved to be simply a way to gain money and power. I feel sad that people such as you could be so easily fooled but maybe if you are a sock puppet, I can understand. Ethics appears to be your weak point.our
