Bad Week for the Church of AGW

The Church of AGW claims that the “Science is Settled”  and humans are responsible for global warming, melting glaciers, rising sea levels and melting ice caps. This week they got some bad news, ice caps are not melting as fast as claimed, Himalayan glaciers not melting over last ten years, and lowering clouds indicates cooling.

Patrick Michaels writing at Forbes has the details  in his article:   An Unsettling Week For Global Warming’s ‘Settled Science’

Now it appears that cloud tops are lowering, a totally unforeseen cooling feedback on carbon dioxide-induced warming. Writing in Geophysical Research Letters, University of Auckland’s Roger Davies and Matthew Molloy conclude this could be a “significant measure of a negative cloud feedback to global warming”.

Then there’s the new icing on the global warming cake. Data from 2003 through 2010 from the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) satellite show virtually zero net melting from the massive Himalayan ice cap, the world’s “third pole”. The UN, using an unrefereed publication from the World Wildlife Federation, erroneously forecast in its last climate compendium that it would be gone by 2035. In reality, it will last hundreds of years, and even longer if the current trends reflect how the ice cap reacts to warming.

In addition, the GRACE satellite found that total ice loss outside of Greenland and Antarctica was previously estimated 30% too high, another reinforcement of the “lukewarm” synthesis of climate change. After adding in the GRACE measurements for Greenland and Antarctica and median estimates for the “thermal expansion” of water, the current rate of sea-level rise is 8 inches per century. While that surely will rise before 2100, it’s only one inch more than what was observed last century.

It is obvious that Mother Nature does not attend the Church of AGW.

  1. The grant seeking eco’s will shift their grant requests to “global cooling” in the near future. It is not about climate but all about the money.

Russ you don’t have the time or space to cover all the torpedo hits this week LOL

As Todd mentions though I bet they all can turn on a dime and get on to the next mini ice age – we just need grant money to figure it out

Why do they keep manipulating data when they know so many people are looking at it???
They must truly live in a bubble.

“There is no question that someone at NASA is fabricating data.”

“People are trying to cover their tracks, and making a mess of it.”

“Yesterday while finishing off my post “NOAA Don’t Believe The Iceland Met Office”, by chance, I took another look at the latest GISS graph for Reykjavik, which is shown above. It showed, just as it had last week, that the temperature in 2003 was much higher than 1939 and 1941, which as we now know from the Iceland Met Office is not true. However something else looked wrong, that I could not put my finger on.
Fortunately, however, I had kept a printout of last week’s dataset and eventually I realised something else had changed. Effectively the scale had been shifted down, so that every singly year became about a degree cooler.
One can ponder on the reasons for this change, but the consequence is abundantly clear – GISS temperatures for recent years, including 2003, now match the actual temperatures recorded by the Iceland Met Office. (Last week we discovered that GISS/GHCN had adjusted temperatures upwards by about a degree since 1970 – for full story see here). However, as the shape of the graph has not altered, this means that years prior to 1970 are shown as much cooler than they really were.
GISS Make The Past Colder In Reykjavik
Game over. This is not legitimately handled data. People are trying to cover their tracks, and making a mess of it. Did someone phone in from Iceland and say “Sorry, me and my predecessors over the last century reported temperatures exactly one degree too low to GISS, but the correct temperatures to the Iceland Met Office. Except for the last two years, when we weren’t messing with the Americans.”
Yesterday we found out that NASA is reporting detailed temperatures from the interior of Antarctica – almost a decade before the first human set foot there. There is no question that someone at NASA is fabricating data.”

Thanks for the find and the link. Many of have thought for years that GISS was adjusting the data when they had data to adjust and just making it up when it suited their purpose. Thanks again for pointing to the evidence.

      I don’t get it!

Why, with everyone looking at this, would these idiots ruin their reputations and put their very freedom in jeopardy?

You know Russ; someone is going to have to pay for all the wasted money.
