Trembling In the Market Place, Sleep Train Wants Back on the Rush Train

Russ Steele

First it was investor fleeing Carbonite after they cancelled their sponsorship on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show.  The stock price dropped 12%.

Now we learn that Sleep Train which had been with Rush for 25 years was having second thoughts about their cancelation, but no joy! Detail at Hot Air:

A Limbaugh spokesman said that California mattress company Sleep Train asked to restart a “voiced endorsement” from Limbaugh that it had publicly cut off last week. The company said at the time that it “does not condone such negative comments toward any person.”…

Sleep Train’s departure from the program had been billed by some observers as particularly significant because the mattress retailer had been with Limbaugh show for 25 years. Yet the tone of Sleep Train’s withdrawal statement last Friday hinted it might not be pulling out for the long run…

Limbaugh spokesman Brian Glicklich on Thursday forwarded a copy of an email that he said had been sent to Sleep Train Chief Executive Dale Carlsen. In it, Glicklich wrote that Limbaugh had personally received the company’s requests to resume advertising on his show.

“Unfortunately,” Glicklich wrote, “your public comments were not well received by our audience, and did not accurately portray either Rush Limbaugh’s character or the intent of his remarks. Thus, we regret to inform you that Rush will be unable to endorse Sleep Train in the future.” [My emphasis added.]

I will be willing to bet there are other’s who cancelled with some second thoughts. What happens if KNCO drops Rush Limbaugh, like our local lefties are demanding and they experience a huge revenue decline. More like falling off and economic cliff.

Local wh like Rush will be turning to 1530, KFBK ,or 92.5 FM, to listen to Rush and never coming back.  If I were KNCO I would not be listening to a small vocal minority, but to the larger market place and keep Rush on the air. They will not have any regrets like Sleep Train.

This should be a valuable lesson for Sleep Train, think before acting.  Do not let your company be stampeded by a bunch of immature hacks on Social Media!

Democrats Own the Price of Auto Fuel

Russ Steele

President Obama personally lobbied wavering Democrats to kill the Keystone Pipeline today, and he succeeded. While 11 Democrats voted with the Republicans to speed approval of the pipeline, the Republican amendment to a transportation bill was still defeated. It got 56 votes, but needed 60.

The Senate also defeated a proposal by Sen. David Vitter to allow the sale of leases throughout the Outer Continental Shelf, including off the coasts of Florida, California and Virginia, 44-54.

Barack Obama and the Democrats own the price of gasoline and diesel,  and the job losses that go with the defeat of the Keystone XL Pipeline.

I am putting a pack of these in my truck:

Along with two of these:

Every time I fill up the GMC 2500 I am going to leave a note for next  user, reminding them that the Obama & Democrats Own the Price Of Fuel.  Vote GOP in November!  Join me in defeating Obama in 2012!

Left Crowing About the Miserable Numbers

Russ Steele

The number of people signing the petition to removed Russ Limbaugh from KNCO has reached a little over 600, crows our local left blogger.  How significant is that number? Not much if we look at the Western Nevada County population over 18 years of age, which is  about 66.5K. The list has about point nine (.9) percent of the over 18 population.

Looking deeper we discover that many of the names on the list are not even in our community, many of the signatures are well beyond the KNCO coverage, unless they were listening on the Internet.

  • Killeen, TX
  • San Francisco, CA
  • Rohnert Park, CA
  • Davis, CA
  • Orland, CA
  • Chico, CA
  • Renaissance, CA
  • Oroville, CA
  • Sweetland, CA
  • Sausalito, CA
  • Chiloquin, OR
  • Magalia, CA
  • Eureka, CA
  • Mill Valley, CA
  • Boulder Creek, CA
  • Monterey, CA
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Fort Madison, IA
  • Yankee Jims, CA
  • Foresthill, CA
  • Truckee, AK
  • Cordova, TN
  • New Orleans, LA

Several people signing the petition just listed the United States for their community. Others were not brave enough to give there full name.  If I were KNCO I would not give this list of people who are not smart enough to find the off switch on there radio or the ability to change the channel much credibility.
