NBC is in the Tank for Climate Change Causing Sandy

We are viewing the Sandy devastation on NBC. Yes, I know NBC. But some times we all need to see what the lame stream media is spewing.

First they reported that Sandy had the lowest atmospheric pressure ever recorded, creating the storm of the century.  Recorded is operative phase here.

They claim that are experiencing the new normal, warmer oceans, rising sea levels and more intense drought. The experts they flashed on the screen were Kevin Trenberth at NCAR, famous for his inability to find global warming in a Climategate e-mail, and  Dr Katharine Hayhoe, Texas Tech, who claimed the oceans are warmer than they use to be  and rising sea levels were part of the new normal.   Kayhoe sees a new normal everywhere.  ”It’s a new normal and I really do think that global weirding is the best way to describe what we’re seeing,” climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe of Texas Tech University told reporters.  She appears to be another climatologist that cannot recognize the difference between weather and climate.

Did they mention how cold it was? Many of the reporters doing outside note that most hurricanes are warm or tropical events with temps in the upper 70’s at least. Those same reporters complained about the cold as it was in the low 50’s Monday when the storm came ashore and low 40’s on Tuesday. In central MD, this felt like a nor’easter a type of fall or winter storm we have here. By the way, BWI set a record low pressure also. The old record was also due to a nor’easter.

They have a short memory. As a child I recall some real destructive hurricanes but much has changed over the years. They now construct buildings so they are higher and more able to withstand the higher winds. In addition, weather satellites have reduced the death rates and even reduced property damage by allowing people to prepare for the storm. In Sandy’s case. we just saw one of the bigger ones that comes through every once in a while. I suspect Sandy is not the biggest storm to hit the area, it’s just one of the biggest ones we know of.
It’s much like earthquakes in California. We know the big one is going to hit, we even have a pretty good idea where but we don’t have a clue as to when.

I followed a story on Hot Air once that lead there, it in itself wasn’t bad. After reading it I then went to the comments for whatever reason – you would not believe what you read there, they are pandering to their audience – go read the comments on one of their stories, that would be a good one to try.
